Blankets for Sandy Hook Elementary Families in Connecticut.
In December of 2012 just before Christmas break, there was a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. 26 people where killed and the entire country mourned with the little Connecticut community.
So, to help, our Riverside Red Hawks decided to make 26 blankets, one for each family of the victims.
Each student colored a square of material, and then over the Christmas Break the squares where sewn together to make the blankets. When they returned to school, the blankets lined the walls of the halls!
It made me cry as I looked at the hundreds of squares all put drawn with such love.
How sad to lose a loved one, especially a small child ever, but especially before Christmas.
This is Brennan standing next to his square.
Brennan said his square was of a family laying on their backs looking up smiling.
This is the Quilt made by Mrs. Gubler's Class. Brennan's square is in the bottom, right corner-ish!
We hope these bright colorful blankets brought comfort to those 26 families, and were reminded more then ever how grateful we are for our children, and eternal families...
